QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree focused in Engineering, Supply Chain, Manufacturing or other related field (highly preferred).
- Experience in the food packaging is a plus
- Demonstrated ability leading a manufacturing team for at least 7 years and more than 10 years in a production environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal and customer service skills. Able to effectively communicate with all levels of management and functional areas.
- Highly organized and detail oriented.
- Must have the ability to work under pressure and potentially stressful conditions
- Under minimal direction, works independently toward department objectives
- Computer literacy and a high degree of familiarity with programs such as Microsoft Office, ERP and data warehouse.

JOB SUMMARY
The Director of Operations leads and directs the Manufacturing and Operations Function (blending, encapsulation, packaging). This position requires an individual that loves efficiently creating high quality products and has a passion for continuous improvement and safety. Ensures appropriate resources to achieve financial and business objectives. Influences, shapes, and integrates strategy for functional areas and participates in setting a growth strategy for the business that is consistent with corporate goals. This role will serve as a key member of the overall company leadership team. The Director of Operations will lead the Manufacturing and Operations organization to continuously strengthen our collaborative and learning culture that delivers outstanding performance in Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS), Product Quality, Productivity, and integration of New Products/Processes with high integrity. Our manufacturing process runs 24/5 and requires leadership around the clock. The position will be directly responsible for the day–to–day management, performance, direction, and growth of manufacturing operations by developing and maintaining strong trusting relationships with the staff and leadership team. This role builds capability among team to ensure that people, processes, equipment, and facilities are prepared.

- Directly supervises, coaches, develop and inspires Operations Leaders responsible for all aspects of production and achieving key performance measurements related to personnel safety, quality and food safety, on time delivery, and production cost
- Maintain process discipline and continually improve process reliability and performance. Identify and deliver productivity gain and capacity release
- Develop, assess, modify, and implement standard procedures and operating systems in safety, quality, sanitation, and GMP’s.
- Foster a team culture that learns, understands, and applies rigorous quality standards, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP)
- Acts as a change agent by challenging existing approaches and performance within the manufacturing operations areas.
- Manage a site capability and capacity plan that provides supply assurance to customers and provides agility and clarity to the business leaders with an effective Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) process.
- Collaborate with cross functional business leaders (Engineering, Maintenance, R&D, Sales, Supplier & Customer Quality, Procurement, HR) to effectively achieve desired performance and behavioral results
- Extend capabilities and plant capacity to meet market needs and support profitable growth of the products produced by the facility.
- leads a culture of collaboration, transparency, in a highly matrixed organization and rapidly changing organization. Uses influence with internal stakeholders on site and in the rest of IFF to ensure that business decisions and needs are met or exceeded.
- Management responsibilities include:
- Typically manages through multiple Managers
- Strategic, tactical, and operational planning (12 + months) for the function or department
- Direct budgetary responsibility for one or more departments. Update staffing plan with temporary support as needed
- Interpret and execute policies for departments/projects; develop, recommend, and implement new policies or modifications to existing policies
- Manages complex projects and maintains effective project management
- Hiring staff, recommending pay increases, performing performance reviews, training, and development of staff, estimating personnel needs, assigning work, meeting completion dates, interpreting and ensuring consistent application of organizational policies
- Publish and track department KPI. Ensure individual and employee adherence to all quality systems.
- Provide some Operational backup for shift manager during periods of absence
- Other duties as assigned.
- Must be able to successfully pass all job-related tests and certifications required for working in a cGMP, quality environment including but not limited to: inspections and GMP requirements to perform essential functions of the job. Must re-qualify every year on all job-related tests and certifications as job or qualifications require.
