Quality Assurance Manager

Health Wright Products is a privately held Contract Manufacturer of Nutritional Supplements that is seeking a Quality Assurance Manager to join our expanding organization. 85k – 110k, DOE 

JOB SUMMARY

The Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for ensuring timely and effective implementation of all the company’s policies, procedures and activities involved in assuring the quality of manufactured products. Works in close relationships with other department managers and or directors and other supervisory personnel to meet and maintain product quality, identify, solve and prevent problems affecting product quality in manufacturing, maximize productivity and comply with regulatory standards and requirements.

It is essential for all employees to adhere to Company policies.

A. Manage staff by utilizing the performance management process, including confirming job responsibilities, establishing goals and job competencies, developing skills, coaching on a continuous basis, and evaluating performance.

B. Develop and implement departmental standard operating procedures and train team accordingly.

C. Supervise and direct quality technicians/analysts who are responsible for enforcing Good Manufacturing Practices and other quality-related policies to meet product quality standards.

D. Periodically review Production Batch Records and other manufacturing-related documents to verify compliance and record keeping for all mandated manufacturing processes, quality checks, in-process testing, sampling, and sanitation activities

E. Follow up with implemented programs (GMPs, Good Hygiene Practices, HACCP, Allergen Control, Cleaning and Sanitation, Pest Control, Equipment Calibration, Environmental Monitoring, Organic Certification, etc.) to ensure compliance by all employees and other personnel in the manufacturing facility.

F. Oversee the “NCM” product program, including the status, release, and destruction of “Rejected” products.

G. Assist in investigating and correcting quality-related issues (including customer complaints) through collaboration with other departments.

H. Supervises 6 or more direct employees and 13 indirect employees.

I. Other duties as assigned.

J. Must be able to successfully pass all job-related tests and certifications required for working in a cGMP, quality environment including but not limited to inspections and GMP requirements to perform essential functions of the job. Must re-qualify every year on all job-related tests and certifications as job or qualifications require.

 

EDUCATION / SKILL / EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS

A. Bachelor’s degree of Science preferably in Food Science or related field (Biology, Microbiology, Food Microbiology, etc.).

B. At least 5 years of work experience as quality assurance auditor/technician in dietary supplements, food/beverage, pharmaceutical or cosmetic industry and at least three (3) years of experience in a supervisory capacity.

C. A good knowledge of Current Good Manufacturing Practices, preferably 21CFR Part 111, and food safety

D. Ability to work under pressure (in an extremely fast paced environment), meet deadlines and make effective decisions.

E. Ability to adapt to changing organizational and operational needs; ability to lead others through change.

F. Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

G. Skill in organization and prioritization, and attention to details.

H. Strong team player and leader with the ability to work across multiple functions and disciplines.

I. Must be able to effectively communicate ideas (verbally and in writing), be a self-starter and handle difficult reporting situations.

J. Preferred: HACCP certification, Allergen Control training, Food Recall training, 21CFR Part 111 training certification

K. A legal right to work in the United States

L. Must pass a drug screen and a background check in accordance with HWP standards.
