Quality Manager

Health Wright Products is a privately held Contract Manufacturer of Nutritional Supplements that is seeking a Quality Manager to join our expanding organization. After 25 years of significant growth we are still just at the beginning cycle of our potential and you would be joining a talented and committed team!

Leads and supports 5-7 direct reports, and 12-15 indirect reports while coordinating, and enforcing oversight of documented quality control systems and processes within a cGMP compliant dietary supplement manufacturing environment. Serve as a technical resource and team leader within a quality control group and throughout the organization. Reviews and assigns job duties for members within the quality control group on an as-needed basis to meet the demands of quality control and production. Perform internal auditing functions, with a team to ensure compliance and documentation systems and cGMP on a periodic and ongoing basis. Effectively communicates with all levels of management, customer service, production staff, vendors and customers for any quality related events within the organization.

A. Ensure strict adherence to established policy and procedures, functional procedures and GMP protocols relating to quality in a dietary supplement manufacturing environment.

B. Develops, implements, and maintains Quality systems to assure the highest possible quality standards for all incoming packaging and labeling components, outgoing finished products, and the manufacturing environment.

C. Oversees department supervisors and evaluates their performance to assure that all policies, procedures, programs and systems are fully implemented.

D. Oversee training of new and current personnel; ensure training plans are complete and up-to date in the Alchemy Training system.

E. Write performance reviews and provide feedback to direct and indirect reports; maintenance of all personnel reviews, and goal setting/personal growth. Recommends changes to staffing and or staffing levels.

F. Perform key metric, incidents, and Continuous Improvement reviews to ensure criteria is met, and implement corrections when issues arise.

G. Ensures and oversees customer/consumer complaint investigations, implements corrective and preventive actions, and provides responses and reports in a timely manner. Aids account management with technical expertise as needed.

H. Oversees customer specifications and works closely with account management and or customers to understand the customers’ requirements and product specifications.

I. Manages the Certificates of Analyses (COA’s) program.

J. Manages the Master Manufacturing Record (MMR) program.

K. Manages the internal Corrective Action Preventative Action (CAPA) program

L. Manages the Environmental Monitoring program.

M. Acts as a back-up to critical roles.

N. Supports manufacturing in meeting product safety and quality objectives, goals, strategies, and measures.

O. Provides risk management strategies in support of manufacturing.

P. Help develop, implement, and maintain standard operational and functional procedures for quality operations.

Q. Ensure training requirements, investigate and document quality related issues in timely manner.

R. Within a team, supports continuous improvement in internal GMP, Food Safety, HACCP, and Quality Management System audits and support the manufacturing plant in effective closure of identified gaps

S. Effectively manage pest control programs

T. Maintain a safe working environment

U. Other duties as assigned

V. Must be able to successfully pass all job-related tests and certifications required for working in a cGMP, quality environment including but not limited to: inspections and GMP requirements to perform essential functions of the job. Must re-qualify every year on all job-related tests and certifications as job or qualifications require.



A. Bachelor of Science Degree in a Food Science or Technology or Laboratory Science (such as biology, chemistry or physics, etc.) is required

B. Five plus years of experience in managing quality operations in a food, pharmaceutical or dietary supplement-manufacturing environment required.

C. Must be a strong communicator with comprehensive hands-on experience in both food manufacturing / operations and QC lab environments.

D. Strong leadership skills in managing change as well as managing the activities of technically based employees.

E. Highly proficient in popular computer software / desktop applications (such as MS Word, MS Excel, Outlook, Visio, etc.)

F. Must be capable of serving as a “customer advocate” within the HWP environment. Requires a general knowledge of manufacturing methods and equipment.
